proficient Photographers

Photographer

The first step toward becoming a professional photographer is to become a proficient photographer in the genre(s) of photography that interest you. Becoming proficient covers both the process of making a photograph and the processing and output of a photographic image after you snap the shutter.

A rule of thumb for some photographers is one hour spent shooting equates to another two hours of post processing. In addition, there is the time required for planning and setting up the shoot. These time splits will vary from photographer to photographer and for the type of work.

You will need to understand methodologies for proper exposure, composition, use of light (natural and artificial) at a minimum. You will need to know and understand the specifics related to your photographic specialty (posing, story telling, how to capture the special moments in sports, dance, etc.)

To accomplish all of this and what follows, most people should take thousands of photographs. There are a very rare few who have a natural ability. It won't take them as long. But for most, there a no short cuts. Don't plan on short cuts.

You will need to understand how take an image file from the camera, load it on a computer and how to process that image file to improve it and correct flaws (lighting, composition, sharpness, color and tone, spots and blemishes, etc.) and the various forms of outputting the image.

You will need to obtain and master equipment that is capable of producing professional photographs. (Don't worry, it's a surprisingly wide range and it doesn't have to be new–just in good working order.)

Next, you will need to decide whether you want to work for yourself or others. You could work for a portrait or commercial photographer or a media organization or freelance as a photojournalist or as an independent business owner. Or, you could work for an in-house photography organization shooting photographs to meet specific needs. You also need to decide if you want to be a generalist and shoot a variety of types of subjects (weddings, rents, portraits) or a specialty ('radical or scientific for example).

In doing all of the above, you can go to school, take courses, use self-directed study or work as an apprentice. You should also have one or more professional photographers mentor you. In doing so, they should give you thorough reviews of your emerging photographic portfolio. If done right, the review will push you hard and challenge you to improve.

Now, having done the above, you are ready to embark on becoming a pro. Get a book about starting a photography business or take a local course about starting a photo business if you decide to operate independently. If not, begin networking and applying for the right jobs.

Subjects such as portfolio development, how to develop a price for your work, business strategies and structure, planning, advertising, networking etc. should be covered in the book or course about starting a business.

If you are working on you own, set a price for your work, set up a work location and office (even if it's in your home) and begin reaching out to your potential customer base.

There are lots of ways to earn as a photographer:-

One way is by offering your services to people or companies. Weddings and birthday parties for example. But before that, you must prove your work's quality.

Sell stock photos. By selling stock photos, you are building your portfolio. These portfolio can be the proof that you are worth the job and people or companies will hire you.

Sell printed photos. Unlike selling stock photos, you might need some capital for this. But believe me you will earn more from it.

Teach online courses. Sharing your knowledge about photography can give you some cash. All you need is hit the record button and talk about photography topic by topic.

Make a photography blog. You can put what you know into writing and let people read and learn. I also have a blog called Photography Tyudorials and I earn bit extra from there. You could check it to see what it looks like. You can earn by Monetizing.

YouTube Channel. Make vlogs. Instead of writing what you know, try to record it just like an online course. Only, it's free. But you you can earn by Monetizing it or selling products from affiliate marketing just like in blogging.

Photography is one of the best profession where you may earn money by sold the photos you have captured by your smart phones or camera you own. If your photo is better quality then some website may pay you some money if it is sold. Most important website where you can sold your photo is Shutterstock. There are some other website like Pixabay, Pexel etc. I have an account as a contributor in Shutterstock and I have 4–5 photo there. As per my opinion Shutterstock is best platform where you can earn some money from your own photo (good quality). Best quality photo have sold out easily and you may earn from these photo. Another way of earning by photography is make your own website and publish some better quality photo on it and you may fix rate of these photograph and sale it. Hope it will be helpful to you!
